Dear Sophie & JF — I know we said we would never be leaving La Bluefin, unfortunately we must.
As we have already chatted about, we are thoroughly impressed with La Bluefin and how inviting you have made it for us. Our activities included whale watching, Cape Forchu, visiting family, many lunches at the ocean, Les Beaux Vendredis, and enjoying the tremendous views you have here for sunsets.
You folks made us feel welcome here well before we arrived, while we were here, and we look forward to returning in 2026. Merci beaucoup!

We loved coming home to that sunset
Thank you Sophie for sharing La Bluefin with us! We felt at home immediately and you have thought of everything. Special touches we loved:
1) Our dog was 100% welcomed with dog basket, dog treats, and a dog shower outside! (The best after the beach!)
2) Coffee station!
3) Comfy beds!
After a long day of visiting the area, we loved coming home to that sunset. We certainly hope to be returning one day, but until then we made many fond memories of Meteghan and La Bluefin!

You feel at home even before you arrive
An unforgettable stay at La Bluefin! The most charming vacation home you can rent on Nova Scotia’s Acadian coast. It’s a well-designed, fully-equipped cottage. Sophie is such a thoughtful host that you feel at home even before you arrive. She gives us all the information on nearby activities, but we also love just sitting and watching the sea. Breathtaking sunsets! Good news – dogs are welcome and receive as much attention as their owners. You can see the fishing boats in the bay, and the seafood is fresh and delicious.

My best rental experience ever!
Wonderful, cozy vacation home in an Acadian community overlooking the sea. The sunsets are absolutely stunning. The cottage is very clean and has all the amenities.
Sophie is a caring and professional host who also welcomes dogs. Her suggestions for attractions and activities allow you to experience the authenticity of the area.

Loved everything about our stay in Meteghan!
Loved everything about our stay in Meteghan! We spent a month visiting the shore… so many beaches and lighthouses and breathtaking views, from Briar Island to Cape Sable Island. We often caught ourselves taking deep long breaths of the sea air, and just enjoying the salty seaweed scents that are so foreign to flatlanders. Every day we looked forward to retuning to our “home away from home”, La Bluefin. The 180 degree view is unbelievable, with absolutely amazing sunsets. This home is so cozy and warm, bright and delightful. Can’t say enough about our hosts, you made everything so easy and made us feel welcome. We’ll definitely be back!

Exceptional stay in a perfect cottage!
We spent a week at La Bluefin and are delighted with our stay in this area. The cottage is new, clean, well equipped (down to the smallest detail), well decorated and what can I say about the view!
Sophie is an outstanding host: she was attentive and receptive. The guide and all the documentation provided were very useful. We really enjoyed learning about Acadian history and culture.
This is the best cottage we’ve rented to date (and we have travelled a lot) and we heartily recommend it.

What a pleasure to be able to travel with our dog, and here everything has been thought of for our pup (several surprises when we arrived!). The house is perfect, the scenery is stunning and the people are extremely kind. The owners are always available, accessible and friendly.

We had the chance to stay in this lovely cottage, nestled in a peaceful spot with an exceptional view of St. Mary’s Bay. Everything has been thought of for the comfort of our four-legged friends, and this added to our experience. The cottage itself is comfortable, well-equipped and tastefully decorated, creating a warm atmosphere. The sunsets we admired from here were simply breathtaking. The owner, Sophie, was also incredibly generous with her advice on how to discover the area. Our stay was memorable, and we highly recommend this destination to anyone looking for a haven of peace and natural beauty. Thanks again for this exceptional experience!

We love everything about this place
This was our second stay at La Bluefin, so obviously we are fans. We love everything about this place. It is well-equipped (seriously anything you would ever need), tastefully decorated (such fun little touches, with an interesting mix of Acadian and beach-y decor) and they take “dog-friendly” to a whole other level (the “I am a guest at La Bluefin” dog tags are too cute)! My husband’s family is from Meteghan and using La Bluefin as our home-away-from-home during our visit gives us our own living space, as well as a central spot for people to visit us. It is so comfortable, the whole place has such a great vibe. I immediately feel at home there. The view is amazing and having a bonfire while watching the most spectacular sunset is the perfect way to end your day.
On our last stay, we had the opportunity to meet the owners and hosts, Sophie and JF, and they are just as charming as you would expect. We were so happy to meet them! As a host, Sophie is very responsive to emails & texts, and while we didn’t really need to bother her for anything while we were there, I have no doubt she would take care of anything you need.
We love La Bluefin and hope to be back again next year!!

What a fabulous stay we had at La Bluefin!
What a fabulous stay we had at La Bluefin! The house is perfectly located, with a breathtaking view of Saint-Mary’s Bay. The kitchen is bright and really well equipped. Everything is provided, even the yoga mats!! We had our dog with us and it was really handy to have the tie-out outside. We were treated to several spectacular sunsets that we’ll remember for a long time. Sophie was an exceptional host and gave us useful advice and recommendations throughout our stay. We loved discovering Smugglers Cove, the Cape St. Mary lighthouse, the Meteghan wharf and Mavillette beach (among others). We’ll definitely be back!

You could not ask for a better place or host
La Bluefin is a gem. You couldn’t ask for a more beautiful setting right on St. Mary’s Bay. The sitting area on the “point” is hard to resist. We spent hours there enjoying the view, the quiet and the surf. The guidebook is terrific. It anticipated most of our questions and was a great introduction to the area. The few times we had questions and posed them to Sophie we got prompt and complete answers. The house has everything you need to enjoy your visit with excellent kitchen appliances, dinnerware and tools and the bedrooms and bathrooms are great. Meteghan is off the beaten track so things are quiet but Mavillette Beach is only 6 miles away and area restaurants have fine seafood. If you are looking for a quiet getaway to recharge you could not ask for a better place or host.

The best Airbnb we have ever stayed in
Had a wonderful, peaceful and relaxing time at this beautiful cottage. The views are spectacular. Decor was beautiful. Sophie had lots of great information in the welcome booklet. Clare is such a beautiful corner of Nova Scotia. Loved exploring and learning more about Acadian culture and food. My parents said “great job booking this cottage, the best Airbnb we have ever stayed in” and we have stayed at a lot!

Sitting in the yellow chairs watching the waves in the morning is such a great way to start your day
This is a beautiful spot. We stayed for a week, while visiting family in the area. Normally we stay with relatives, but having our own spot made this more like a vacation as well as a family visit. La Bluefin is beautiful, perfectly decorated with a beach/seaside decor. There are lots of nice touches that you can tell there was a lot of effort and thought put into it. Very well equipped with regards of kitchen equipment, you just need to bring your own food! (FYI lots of great restaurants in the area too… between family & the restaurants, we didn’t eat most of what we took with us). The view is priceless, sitting in the yellow chairs watching the waves in the morning is just such a great way to start your day. It was such a comfortable and relaxing spot all around. Sophie was great to deal with, she responds very quickly to messages (not that we had to message her for anything). We loved it and will definitely stay here again if it’s available! The view speaks for itself - literally left us breathless
Absolutely incredible stay! The home itself is fully equipped with everything and anything you may need, and the view speaks for itself – literally left my partner and I breathless. Sophie was an amazing host and even left us a little welcome note and gift, really personalizing our stay. I can’t recommend this place enough and cannot wait til we can return again!

La Bluefin was by far one of the best AirBnbs I have stayed in. Sophie and Jean-Francois have thought of everything. The house has every amenity one could need and it feels spacious and cosy at the same time. There is much to explore in the area but I was just as happy sitting outside and watching the mind blowing sunsets over the water as I was touring around the area. A truly amazing experience. I can’t wait to return!

This place is amazing. Hands down the best AirBnB we’ve ever stayed in. The view is gorgeous and visible from every angle in the house. The house itself is thoughtfully designed and has everything you need for a long stay. We stayed for a month and I wish it had been longer. Beds are comfortable, view is amazing, and you can get fresh lobster/scallops/fish in town 5 minutes away. Plus Sophie is an amazing host; super responsive and very informative with everything you need to know about the place.
